    Dr Talal Al-Emadi

    He is the Oil and Gas Law Professor and Qatar University Press Founder and Director for 5 years (2018-2022). His academic specialty is in the arena of International Economic Law. He focuses on how the law interacts with the important things in petroleum investment; not just profit, but trust and long-term relationships between Qatar and international oil and gas companies. He is a registered lawyer in the Qatari Bar. He trained and coached the first ever team representing Qatar in the prestigious international law moot court competition, namely Jessup, in Washington DC in 2008, in which he was selected as a Judge in 2018. He was seconded from QU to the Amiri Diwan as a legal counselor for the Minister of State for Council of Ministers Affairs. He holds a doctorate degree in law (DPhil) from the University of Oxford – 2013. His thesis questioned the preference of joint venture agreements in the Qatari gas industry. He holds a master’s degree in law (LLM) from Harvard University, 1998, where he wrote a comparative dissertation on search and seizure. He returned to Harvard as a Visiting Scholar in 2010 where he developed a course on how health intersects with law, disability and ethics, and thereafter, offered it in QU. He was among the first QU law graduating class, in 1994, to receive the bachelor’s in law degree (LLB) after which he was the first TA who joined the then Department of Law (now College of Law). He is also an alumnus of Georgetown Leadership Seminar 2018 class – Washington DC.

    Prof Fatma Alsowaidi

    Specialized in the study of ancient Arabic literature, the Umayyad era, through a scientific and practical career spanning years, as an accredited referee for scientific publications and promotions in a number of Arab universities, and as an external examiner in a number of universities for master's and doctoral theses, in addition to carrying out the duties of the Arabic language, literature and criticism courses, teaching, writing and discussing, at Qatar University, Zayed University (visiting professor) and the University of London (SOAS), in addition to academic, professional and administrative skills Qatar University, Zayed University (Visiting Professor) and the University of London (SOAS), in addition to academic, professional and administrative skills at the level of serving the university and Qatari society, especially scientific cooperation with cultural institutions related to the field of Arabic language and literature, and related to the field of Arab and humanitarian thought, in Qatar and abroad.

    Ms. Shaikha A. Althani

    Head of Marketing and Sales at Qatar University Press since October 2022. She holds a Master of Science in Islamic Finance from Hamad Bin Khalifa University in 2017, a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Qatar University in 2013, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Education at the University of Southern California. She previously held several positions in marketing and communications, including Marketing and Programs Specialist at Qatar University Press since 2021, and Teaching Assistant at the College of Business Administration at Doha University of Science and Technology between 2018 and 2020. She has also had various professional experiences through internship programs at Al Rayyan Bank and United Development Company (UDC).


    She has been involved in organizing and supervising several international book fairs, most notably the Doha International Book Fair, Ramadan Book Fair, Qatar University Book Fair I and II, Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, and Riyadh International Book Fair.
    She previously received the Social Responsibility Advertising Creativity Award from the Arab Media Forum in Kuwait in 2022, and has extensive experience in project management and strategic marketing, enabling her to contribute to the development of the scientific publishing and cultural marketing sector.
